Silchar: Tripura, a State that has recently emerged out of more than two decades of insurgency, is fast gaining importance on the strategic index of the North. Over the years, the State has witnessed combined effect of the efforts of Assam Rifles and Indian Army in the restoration of peace and normalcy during the bloody years of insurgency as also subsequently to create an environment conducive for the peace to prosper.
The wide array of civic action programs conducted jointly by army and Assam Rifles have assisted the State government as well as local administration in enhancing their outreach to the remotest corners of the State. During flood relief operations of 2018, the Armed Forces present in Tripura worked relentlessly to save more than 1200 precious lives and assisted in the distribution of relief materials.
Both Assam Rifles and the Indian Army are jointly conducting training exercises in the State to enhance their preparedness level in the wake of upcoming monsoons. During a plethora of medical camps, awareness workshops, employment drives or sports activities; the ‘Two Pillars of Defence; Assam Rifles and Indian Army’ have always laid efforts as a joint team for the people of Tripura. The people of Tripura stand together in gratification to acknowledge the drive and determination of these men in uniform who have been together as ‘Sentinels of the North East’.
