Pune, India (Urban Transport News): Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has issued a letter of acceptance (LoA) to Honeywell Automation India Limited for the contract worth Rs 76,33,16,727.00 for the supply of telecommunication systems for Pune Metro Rail project. The contract was signed on 25th February 2020.
In July last year, Maha-Metro had floated tender for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing & commissioning of telecommunication systems for Pune Metro Rail project. As Honeywell Automation India Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder, thus awarded the contract for the same.
Honeywell Automation India Limited (HAIL) is a subsidiary company of Honeywell a leader in providing integrated automation and software solutions, including process solutions and building solutions. It has a wide product portfolio in environmental and combustion controls, and sensing and control, and also provides engineering services in the field of automation and control to global clients.
The Pune Metro Rail project is being executed under the supervision of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The project is being funded by two foreign financial institutions namely the French Development Agency (AfD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
In January this year, AfD had signed a loan agreement to provide financial assistance of EUR245 million for the project. Similarily, EIB has signed a loan agreement to provide financial assistance of EUR600 million for the construction of the underground section and procurement of metro coaches (Rolling Stock) for the project.
Before the announcement of countrywide lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, about 50 percent work of the Pune Metro Rail project has been completed.
