Indian-origin fintech company Pine Labs is expanding its international payments presence in Singapore with a unified merchant platform that brings payment acceptance, acquiring, instalment solutions and customer-engagement tools into a broader commerce ecosystem.
The expansion is part of Pine Labs’ long-term strategy to move beyond point-of-sale infrastructure and become a full-stack commerce technology provider. The company already operates across multiple international markets, and Singapore adds further depth to its presence in Southeast Asia.
Singapore Strengthens Pine Labs’ International Footprint
Pine Labs has steadily expanded outside India by taking its merchant payments and commerce infrastructure into markets across Asia, the Middle East, Australia and other regions.
Singapore is particularly significant because it is one of Asia’s most advanced digital payments markets and an important regional base for banks, retailers and technology companies. Establishing a stronger presence there gives Pine Labs access to merchants that increasingly operate across several countries and channels.
For the company, the objective is not limited to processing transactions. Pine Labs is building a broader merchant platform that can connect physical stores, online commerce, payment acceptance, settlement, financing and customer engagement within a common system.
A Unified Platform for Merchant Payments
The Singapore rollout brings together several services that merchants often manage separately.
Pine Labs’ infrastructure is designed to support merchant onboarding, payment acceptance, transaction routing, settlement, analytics and account management across online and offline channels. This allows businesses to manage a larger part of their payments operation through a single technology framework.
For large retailers and multi-location merchants, such integration can reduce operational complexity. A unified system can also make it easier to reconcile transactions, monitor performance and manage payments across physical outlets, websites and mobile platforms.
Instalment Payments Remain a Core Capability
Pine Labs has built a significant part of its business around affordability and instalment-led payments.
Its platforms support credit-card EMI, debit-card EMI and other deferred-payment options that allow customers to spread the cost of purchases over time. These services are integrated directly into the merchant payment environment rather than operating as completely separate financing products.
For merchants, instalment options can improve conversion on higher-value purchases and provide customers with more flexibility at checkout. This capability remains an important part of Pine Labs’ wider commerce strategy as the company expands into international markets.
Customer Engagement Goes Beyond the Transaction
The company is also integrating payments with customer-retention tools.
Pine Labs’ wider merchant ecosystem includes gift cards, loyalty programmes, rewards, refunds and promotional services. Through Qwikcilver, the company already provides infrastructure for managing gift-card programmes across multiple channels.
This reflects a broader shift in commerce technology. Payment systems are increasingly becoming part of a larger customer relationship platform in which purchase history, rewards, offers and loyalty benefits can be connected across physical and digital channels.
For Pine Labs, this creates a deeper relationship with merchants than simply supplying payment terminals or processing transactions.
Shopflo Acquisition Strengthened the Full-Stack Strategy
Pine Labs accelerated its unified commerce strategy in April 2026 with the acquisition of checkout optimisation platform Shopflo.
The acquisition added online checkout capabilities to Pine Labs’ existing payments infrastructure. It also gave the company tools to address payment failures, customer drop-off and conversion problems during the final stages of an online purchase.
This strengthened Pine Labs’ ability to support merchants across the entire transaction journey. Instead of focusing only on payment acceptance, the company can now address checkout, financing, settlement and post-purchase engagement within a wider technology stack.
Philippines Expansion Preceded the Singapore Push
The Singapore development follows Pine Labs’ recent expansion in the Philippines.
The company entered that market through a partnership with GCash for Business, extending its merchant infrastructure into another major Southeast Asian digital payments ecosystem.
Pine Labs has also expanded through Qwikcilver in Australia, where it works with large retail groups on gift-card and prepaid infrastructure.
These moves show that the company is building an international network rather than depending mainly on the Indian market.
Singapore Fits a Broader Southeast Asia Strategy
Southeast Asia has become an important region for Pine Labs because of its rapidly growing digital commerce sector.
Markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines combine high smartphone penetration with strong growth in digital payments, e-commerce and merchant technology. They also contain a large number of regional businesses that operate across borders.
A unified platform can therefore serve merchants that need consistent payment and customer-management infrastructure across several countries.
Singapore, in particular, can function as both an operating market and a regional base for expanding partnerships across Southeast Asia.
Pine Labs Is Moving Beyond Point-of-Sale Payments
Pine Labs began primarily as a merchant payments company, but its business model has expanded considerably.
The company now operates across in-store payments, online payments, merchant acquiring, prepaid products, credit processing, checkout technology and customer-engagement services.
This shift reflects a wider trend in fintech. Merchants increasingly want a single provider that can support multiple payment channels rather than separate systems for every stage of the transaction.
Pine Labs is positioning itself to meet that demand by combining payment infrastructure with wider commerce tools.
Indian Fintech Technology Is Moving Overseas
The international expansion of Pine Labs is also part of a broader change in Indian fintech.
Indian payment companies have developed in one of the world’s most competitive digital payments environments. That experience has produced platforms capable of handling large transaction volumes, multiple payment methods and complex merchant requirements.
Some Indian fintech companies are now taking those capabilities into overseas markets.
Pine Labs’ growing presence in Southeast Asia and other regions demonstrates how Indian-origin financial technology firms are beginning to participate in global payments infrastructure, not just domestic digitalisation.
Building a Global Commerce Platform
The Singapore expansion gives Pine Labs another important market in its international growth strategy.
By combining payments, acquiring, instalment solutions and customer engagement, the company is moving closer to a full-stack merchant commerce model that can serve businesses across both physical and digital channels.
The long-term significance lies in Pine Labs’ transition from an India-focused payments company into a wider international commerce infrastructure provider. Its expansion across Southeast Asia shows how Indian fintech capabilities are increasingly being adapted for global markets and more complex merchant ecosystems.
