Paras Defence and Space Technologies has placed purchase orders worth ₹8.63 crore with Jyoti Global Plast Limited for precision-engineered components used in advanced defence and aerospace imaging and sensor systems, adding another Indian manufacturer to its specialised domestic supply chain.
The orders were disclosed by Jyoti Global Plast on September 7, 2026 and have an aggregate value of ₹8,62,66,015. The company said the components will be supplied for applications associated with defence and aerospace imaging and sensing equipment.
The development is significant because imaging and sensor systems are among the more technologically demanding areas of modern defence manufacturing. Electro-optical systems rely on tightly integrated combinations of optical elements, mechanical structures, electronics, detectors and image-processing equipment, with manufacturing tolerances often substantially tighter than those required for conventional industrial products.
Paras Defence already has an established presence in this segment. The company operates across defence and space optics, optronic systems, defence electronics, electromagnetic protection and heavy engineering, with imaging and surveillance technologies forming an important part of its portfolio.
Its official product range includes infrared lenses, optical domes, gyro blocks, diffractive gratings, large space mirrors, optical reflectors, metal mirrors, lens assemblies and ultra-precision manufactured components. These technologies are used across thermal imaging, targeting, surveillance, missiles, aircraft, unmanned systems and space-based imaging applications.
Paras also designs complete optronic systems, rather than limiting itself to individual optical components. Its portfolio includes hyperspectral imaging systems, optical submarine periscopes and border-surveillance systems, alongside electro-optical technologies intended for land, naval and airborne platforms.
The company describes its optronics business as combining optics, electronics and precision engineering to support detection, tracking and surveillance. Such systems can integrate several sensors into a common package capable of generating imagery and target information for operators.
One area where Paras has developed particular expertise is infrared optics. Its manufacturing capabilities include lenses for the mid-wave and long-wave infrared bands, including wavelengths used by thermal imaging equipment. These systems allow military platforms to detect and identify targets in darkness and under conditions where conventional visible-light cameras may be ineffective.
Paras Defence also manufactures diffractive gratings used in hyperspectral imaging systems. Hyperspectral cameras separate incoming light into many narrow wavelength bands, allowing them to distinguish materials and objects using their spectral signatures rather than relying only on conventional colour imagery.
This technology has applications extending from defence surveillance and target discrimination to Earth observation and environmental monitoring. Paras has been expanding its capabilities in this area and in 2024 opened an advanced optical systems testing facility in Navi Mumbai as part of a broader plan to establish an Optical Systems Development Park.
The facility was conceived to support research, development and testing of hyperspectral and other advanced optical systems for defence and space applications. Paras has said it intends to build deeper domestic capability in areas where India has traditionally depended on imported high-precision optical technologies.
The company’s more recent disclosures show that this strategy is gradually expanding from individual optical elements toward complete imaging systems.
Paras has said it supplies optics to many of India’s major thermal-imaging and optical-system manufacturers and is simultaneously developing higher-level systems where it can undertake design, engineering, manufacturing and integration in-house. The company has also highlighted ongoing work on drone cameras with high indigenous content, reflecting the growing requirement for domestically manufactured electro-optical payloads for unmanned aircraft.
That requirement has become increasingly important as Indian defence planners focus on reducing dependence on imported sensors, electronics and optical components. Although complete UAVs may be assembled domestically, critical subsystems such as cameras, navigation equipment, communications hardware and sensors can still contain significant foreign content.
Developing a deeper Indian supplier network for these components is therefore central to increasing the actual indigenous content of future defence platforms.
The order placed with Jyoti Global Plast fits into that broader supply-chain strategy.
Jyoti Global Plast has more than four decades of manufacturing experience and historically built its business around plastic and fibre-reinforced polymer moulding. Its conventional product portfolio includes industrial containers, automotive components and other moulded products, but the company has increasingly moved into precision engineering for defence and aerospace applications.
The Paras Defence orders provide Jyoti Global Plast with exposure to a substantially more specialised manufacturing segment. Components intended for advanced imaging and sensor systems must generally meet strict dimensional, repeatability and quality-control requirements because even small mechanical deviations can affect optical alignment, sensor stability or system performance.
Jyoti Global Plast said the latest orders strengthen its expanding presence in defence and aerospace manufacturing and are expected to contribute to its revenue while diversifying its customer base.
For Paras Defence, the importance lies less in the headline value of ₹8.63 crore and more in the localisation of the supporting manufacturing ecosystem required to scale sophisticated imaging products.
Defence electronics and optronics increasingly depend on networks of specialised Tier-2 and Tier-3 suppliers capable of manufacturing small but technically important components repeatedly and at controlled quality levels. Large defence companies cannot economically manufacture every mechanical or optical part internally, making reliable domestic suppliers essential as production volumes increase.
India’s defence-industrial expansion is therefore creating opportunities not only for major companies assembling complete platforms but also for smaller manufacturers specialising in individual components, materials and precision processes.
Paras Defence itself occupies an important position within that structure. It operates as a specialist defence-engineering company supplying technologies to larger system integrators while simultaneously expanding toward complete optronic and surveillance systems of its own.
Its optics operations already support applications ranging from missile seekers and thermal imaging equipment to space telescopes, Earth-observation payloads and unmanned systems. The company also produces optical domes, mirrors, gyro components and other precision parts used in demanding defence and aerospace environments.
This development is an useful example of how India’s defence-indigenisation drive is moving deeper into the supply chain. The challenge is no longer limited to assembling complete weapons or platforms domestically. Increasingly, the focus is turning toward the optics, sensors, electronics, precision structures and other specialised components inside those systems.
Paras Defence’s ₹8.63-crore purchase orders with Jyoti Global Plast represent a relatively modest transaction compared with major platform contracts, but they illustrate this deeper phase of localisation.
As Indian companies expand into electro-optics, hyperspectral imaging, UAV payloads and advanced surveillance equipment, a wider network of domestic precision manufacturers will be needed to support sustained production.
The latest orders therefore strengthen not only Paras Defence’s imaging supply chain but also the broader ecosystem of Indian companies moving into high-value precision manufacturing for defence and aerospace technologies.
