Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported its highest-ever annual production, manufacturing over 23.4 lakh passenger vehicles in FY 2025–26. The milestone makes the company the only passenger vehicle manufacturer in India to reach this production volume, according to the company’s official release, citing SIAM industry data.
The achievement also carries global importance within the Suzuki network. Maruti Suzuki said it became the only company among Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global automobile manufacturing facilities to reach this scale of production in a single country. This underlines India’s growing role not just as a domestic automobile market, but as a major manufacturing base for Suzuki’s global strategy.
The company’s most produced models during the year were Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga and Baleno. Each of these models crossed the 2 lakh-unit production mark, showing the strength of Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio across sedans, hatchbacks, compact SUVs and family vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the record was the result of an automobile ecosystem built over more than four decades. He credited the company’s employees, vendor partners, dealer network and government policy support, including the rollout of GST 2.0, for helping strengthen market confidence and stimulate demand at a crucial stage.
The company currently operates four manufacturing facilities located at Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat. Together, these plants have an installed annual capacity of 24 lakh units, meaning the FY26 production figure reflects very high utilisation of Maruti Suzuki’s existing manufacturing base.
As part of its next phase of expansion, Maruti Suzuki has identified land for a fifth manufacturing facility at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. Once fully operational, the new plant is expected to add 10 lakh units of annual production capacity, supporting the company’s larger target of scaling total production capacity to around 40 lakh units per year.
The company also said it currently manufactures 17 models with more than 650 variants for both domestic and export markets. This wide production mix is important because Maruti Suzuki is increasingly positioning India as an export hub, while continuing to serve strong demand within the Indian passenger vehicle market.
Overall, the FY26 production record shows Maruti Suzuki’s continuing dominance in India’s passenger vehicle industry and highlights the country’s rising importance in global automobile manufacturing. With fresh capacity planned in Gujarat and a larger push toward exports, the company’s next challenge will be sustaining scale while adapting to changing consumer demand, cleaner technologies and global supply chain competition.
