India Post is set to roll out a major upgrade to its premium delivery network with the launch of ‘24 Speed Post’ on 17 March 2026, a service designed to guarantee next-day delivery for urgent and time-sensitive consignments in six of the country’s biggest metropolitan centres. The new service will be formally launched in New Delhi by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, marking what appears to be a significant push by the Department of Posts to modernise and strengthen its express logistics capabilities.
In its first phase, 24 Speed Post will be available across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, targeting customers who need faster and more reliable delivery of critical documents and parcels. The initiative is part of a broader premium delivery framework under which 24 and 48 Speed Post services will offer assured D+1 and D+2 timelines respectively. To make this possible, the Department of Posts is putting in place dedicated processing windows and priority air transmission, helping consignments move through the system with greater speed and predictability.
The new offering is also notable for the additional features being built around it. Deliveries will include OTP-based secure handover, making the service more reliable for sensitive consignments. Customers will also receive end-to-end tracking supported by SMS alerts, allowing them to monitor shipments more closely. For business users, the package becomes even more attractive with facilities such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), free pickup for bulk bookings, API integration, and centralised billing, all of which are aimed at improving convenience for commercial clients and large-volume users. A particularly strong consumer-facing assurance is the money-back guarantee in case of delay, a move that signals India Post’s confidence in the service and its intention to compete more aggressively in the premium express segment.
Overall, the launch of 24 Speed Post reflects an effort by India Post to reposition itself not merely as a traditional postal network, but as a modern logistics platform capable of handling the growing demand for fast, trackable, and guaranteed delivery services in urban India. For individuals, businesses, and institutions that depend on timely movement of documents and parcels, this could become an important new option in the country’s evolving delivery ecosystem.
