India and Indonesia emphasised the need of increased bilateral marine cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and agreed to expand connection between the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Aceh province. At the seventh round of India-Indonesia foreign office meetings in Jakarta, the two sides had comprehensive discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The two sides discussed recent regional and global developments, as well as collaboration within the G20, ASEAN framework, Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI), and ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific (AOIP), according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The Ministry of External Affairs said that The two delegations emphasised the need for increased maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as their continued commitment to strengthening the India-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership. The two parties agreed to increase connectivity between the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Aceh region, as well as people-to-people exchange and cultural collaboration. The negotiations were held in a “friendly and cordial” tone, according to the MEA.
