External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar chaired a Consultative Committee meeting on India-Africa ties in New Delhi, underscoring Africa’s growing importance in India’s diplomatic and strategic outlook. The discussions reviewed India’s engagement with African nations across trade and investment, Lines of Credit, grants, capacity building, defence cooperation, and coordination in regional and multilateral forums.
Particular emphasis was placed on education, skilling, and institutional capacity development, reflecting India’s long-running development partnership approach with African countries. The meeting also highlighted the broader momentum in India-Africa relations, with collaboration increasingly extending into areas such as digital public infrastructure, health, agriculture, supply chains, and maritime security.
In a social media post after the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar said the consultations reflected India’s historic ties and strong people-to-people connection with Africa. The engagement signals continued efforts to deepen political trust, expand development cooperation, and strengthen business and strategic linkages with African partners
