India Developing Seven More COVID Vaccines, Says Health Minister

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that India is working to develop seven more COVID-19 vaccines. This would be in addition to Covishield—AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford—and Covaxin—India’s first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR—already being used to inoculate frontline workers.

India’s Recovery Rate Touches 97%

With a consistent rise in cumulative recoveries, India’s Recovery Rate has reached 97%, one of the highest globally. India’s total Active Caseload has dropped to 1.68 lakh (1,68,235) today. The active caseload now consists of just 1.56% of India’s total Positive Cases.

PMJAY has Significantly Enhanced Health Insurance Coverage

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), an ambitious program and a crucial component of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, launched by Government of India in 2018, to provide healthcare access to the most vulnerable sections, has had a strong positive impact on the healthcare outcomes of those States that have adopted the healthcare scheme. This was stated in the Economic Survey 2020-21 which was laid by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament today.

Here is How COVID-19 Vaccination Programs are Conducted?

Training of the manpower involved in the program have been conducted virtually using platforms like National Information Center (NIC), ECHO, Integrated Government Online training’ (iGOT) portal on digital infrastructure for knowledge sharing (DIKSHA) platform of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), educational satellite (EDUSAT) (in use in Madhya Pradesh), or other available online training platforms. Developmental partners have supported the state and districts in organizing trainings using virtual platforms.
