Tata Elxsi and Sarla Aviation Join Forces to Develop Indigenous Shunya eVTOL Aircraft

Shunya is being developed as a six-passenger-plus-one-pilot eVTOL aircraft, giving it a significantly different operating concept from conventional helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft. Electric vertical take-off and landing technology allows an aircraft to rise and land vertically without requiring a conventional runway, while an efficient wing-supported cruise phase can provide greater range and energy efficiency once the aircraft transitions into forward flight.

OrbitAID Targets Q1 2027 for India’s First End-to-End Satellite Life-Extension and Refuelling Demonstration

OrbitAID disclosed the updated mission timeline on 25 August 2026, saying that two spacecraft — AayulSAT-2A, serving as the chaser, and AayulSAT-2B, serving as the target — will be launched together for the demonstration. The company intends to validate the complete sequence required for servicing an operational spacecraft rather than testing individual rendezvous or docking functions in isolation.

Zen Technologies Launches CITADEL Anti-Drone Shield for Critical Infrastructure

Announced on 31 August 2026, CITADEL — short for Critical Infrastructure Threat Detection & Electronic Layer — represents an expansion of counter-drone technology beyond conventional military bases and battlefield environments. Zen Technologies has positioned the system as a configurable protective layer for facilities whose uninterrupted operation has become increasingly important to India’s digital, industrial and strategic infrastructure.

From Human Digital Twins to Indigenous 5G Radios: Technologies Emerging from India’s Cyber-Physical Systems Mission

These technologies are emerging from the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, or NM-ICPS, a ₹3,660-crore programme implemented by the Department of Science and Technology. A government technology review released on 31 August 2026 highlighted how the programme is moving from fundamental research towards deployable technologies across healthcare, telecommunications, agriculture, mining, cybersecurity and autonomous mobility.

Xploder UGV — Major Rajprasad R.S.: A Soldier-Built Robot for IED Disposal and Combat Operations

Major Rajprasad, an officer of the Corps of Engineers and 7 Engineer Regiment, began developing the system after examining the risks faced by troops while dealing with IEDs and clearing terrorist hideouts. Government records from the earlier stages of the project identify him as Captain Rajprasad R.S. and recognise Xploder under the iDEX4Fauji initiative as an unmanned IED-disposal remotely operated vehicle. The project subsequently matured as he continued his service and development work.
