The company’s work represents an important branch of India’s emerging bioeconomy. Instead of depending entirely on farmland, fisheries or conventional chemical feedstocks, String Bio is exploring how biological manufacturing can produce useful materials inside controlled fermentation facilities.

Gurugram-based Chakr Innovation is addressing this problem through an Indian-developed retrofit approach. Its flagship product, Chakr Shield, is fitted to the exhaust system of an existing diesel generator and is designed to reduce harmful emissions without requiring the operator to discard or replace the generator.

Its flagship F77 platform combines a large structural battery pack, high-output electric drivetrain, connected-vehicle systems and aviation-inspired industrial design. At the experimental end of its development programme, the F99 Factory Racing Platform explores 400-volt architecture, carbon-fibre construction, active aerodynamics and electric-superbike levels of performance.

Bengaluru-based Vimag Labs is developing a different approach. Its Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor, or VMSM, replaces fixed permanent magnets with an electrically generated rotor magnetic field controlled through power electronics and proprietary software.

QpiAI was established in Bengaluru in 2019 with the objective of combining artificial intelligence, quantum computing and high-performance classical computing. Its multidisciplinary team works across superconducting electronics, semiconductor technology, device physics, quantum algorithms, machine learning, software engineering and high-performance computing.
