L&T Heavy Engineering – manufactured 1250 MT-Cryostat base, the single largest section of the World’s Largest Nuclear Fusion Reactor, was successfully lifted and placed into a Reactor building in France recently, accomplishing a major milestone in the nuclear engineering world.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), India’s largest carmaker, commissioned a 5 megawatt (MW) solar power plant at Gurugram, in the national capital region (NCR). The plant will provide to the internal energy requirements of the company’s Gurugram facility by synchronising with the captive power plant, according to MSI.

Plans are afoot to develop 57 highway stretches near each state capital to serve as model national highways, an NHAI official said. These stretches total to 1,735 kms across the country. “In order to exhibit the model stretches of national highways as per norms, NHAI plans to develop 57 stretches of NH (1,735 kms) across the length and breadth of the country near each state capital,” the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) official said.
In a significant development, India has emerged as the fifth-largest producer of hydropower electricity in the world surpassing Japan. As per the International Hydropower Association, India has a total installed base standing at 50 Gigawatt now after Canada, the US, Brazil, and China.
