A major focus of the talks was the implementation of TEPA and the early opportunities it is creating. India noted that the agreement gives duty-free access in Norway for a range of agricultural and allied products, opening new possibilities for women entrepreneurs, MSMEs, farmers, fishermen, and innovation-driven businesses.

Highlighting the wider significance of the talks, the Prime Minister said the visit would bring fresh momentum to trade and investment ties. He underlined that Austria’s strengths in advanced engineering and technology could complement India’s scale and speed, helping create more reliable technology partnerships and supply chains.
The visit is also politically significant because it will be President Lee’s first visit to India since taking office, and Reuters described it as the first visit by a South Korean leader to India in eight years.
India and Germany are also marking 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, after completing 25 years of their Strategic Partnership in 2025. During Merz’s visit, both governments said bilateral trade in goods and services had already crossed US$50 billion in 2024, with the upward trend continuing through 2025, underlining that the relationship is now moving beyond diplomacy into a broader strategic-economic partnership.
The visit is significant for two reasons. First, it underlines the importance Moscow attaches to BRICS as a platform for coordination among major emerging economies. Second, it would mark Putin’s second trip to India in less than a year, after his December 4–5, 2025 state visit for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi.
Birla said the recent elevation of India-France ties to a “Special Global Strategic Partnership,” following President Macron’s visit to India in February 2026, reflects growing mutual trust and expanding cooperation across sectors. He stressed that parliamentary exchanges are an important pillar of the wider strategic relationship and recalled the February 2024 visit to India by French Senate Chairman Gérard Larcher as another important milestone in inter-parliamentary engagement.
Among the key outcomes, former senior diplomat Preeti Saran was re-elected in her personal capacity to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. India also won seats in the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations, and the Committee for Programme and Coordination.
According to the official PIB statement, the two sides reviewed the full spectrum of India-Qatar relations, including energy, trade, investment, culture, and broader bilateral cooperation. Qatar’s energy minister said the country looked forward to continuing and strengthening energy relations with India, while both ministers agreed to remain in regular touch in the coming weeks.
