India’s Test Fires Extended 450-Km Range BrahMos Missile – Hits Target Amid Tensions With Pakistan

After a brief halt, India has once again commenced testing its weapons systems. On Tuedasy, it was the BrahMos’ turn, considered to be world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile. The latest BrahMos missile test is part of ongoing user trials for its extended range of around 450 km, with the version of the missile used in the launch having an upgraded guidance system as well.

Expansion of Army Cloud to Boost Force’s Operational Efficiency in War and Peace

The army will extensively use the cloud network for storing and sharing operational and personnel information like deployments, movement of formations and health and service records, the Economic Times said in an article citing unidentified officials. The expansion programme will be carried out under the Rs 26,664-crore “network for spectrum” (NFS) project, according to the report.

No End of the Road for Gypsy in Indian Army

Army has placed an order for thousands of Gypsy cars even after Maruti Suzuki has stoped making them. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. had announced in October 2018 that it was stopping production of the Gypsy in April 2019. But, due to operational and logistics compulsions, the Army has placed an order for 3,051 Gypsy vehicles.

The glacier, a 76-km river of slow moving ice, is of extreme strategic importance to India. Army officials say that as long as the glacier is under India’s control, the Pakistani army cannot link up with the Chinese and pose threat to the Ladakh region. It also acts as a wedge between the Shaksgam valley under China’s control and Baltistan, which is occupied by Pakistan.
