India’s NDC Delegation Visits Nepal to Discuss Warfare Strategy

The delegation comprised 15 senior officials from civil services and defence forces of India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Mongolia and Bangladesh visited Nepal for three days from August 25 to August 28. The team also visited Western Division Headquarters at Pokhara as well as the prestigious Mountain Warfare School at Jomsom.

IMD Hands over Kochi CDR Building to Indian Navy

Dr D Pradhan, Scientist ‘G’, Additional Director General of Meteorology (Instruments), IMD and Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni signed the MoU which will enable the Indian Navy to utilise the CDR building within naval premises at Kochi for meteorological purposes.
Indian Navy had requested IMD to hand over the building permanently for meteorological purposes.

IAF Plans to Buy 33 MiG-29, Sukhoi 30 Fighter Jets

The 12 Su-30 MKIs are being planned to be inducted for replacing the number of aircraft lost by the Air Force in different accidents, they said. The 12 additional Sukhois will help the Indian Air Force to maintain its fleet of 272 Su-30MKI fighters. The 21 MiG 29s that the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire are from Russia which has offered to sell these planes to help the Air Force to meet its requirement of new fighters.

India-Kazakh Joint Military Exercise from August 31

The exercise, named KAZIND 2019, will be held in Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Nearly 100 soldiers each from India and Kazakhstan will participate in the event. The exercise will allow both the armies an opportunity to share experiences gained during counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. The exercise is expected to boost defence co-operation and foster bilateral ties.

Shaliza Dhami is First Woman Air Force Officer To Become Flight Commander

Wing Commander Dhami, serving for 15 years now, has been flying choppers. She became the first woman flying instructor of the Air Force and is also the first woman officer to get permanent commission of the flying branch. She took charge of a Chetak helipcopter unit at the Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Chetak is a single engine turbo shaft, light utility helicopter with capacity of 6 passengers and has maximum speed of 220 km/hour.
