Newly-merged Australian company Libcoin Avass is planning to make India its key base by expanding its operations in the manufacture of buses, batteries and charging stations, top company officials said on Friday.

Fully kitted out in his cycling gear, Lieutenant General Alok Kler will set out on the 270km trip from New Delhi to the Rajasthan capital on Saturday night to take charge of the army’s South Western Command the following day. He currently heads the army’s military training directorate.

The delegation comprised 15 senior officials from civil services and defence forces of India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Mongolia and Bangladesh visited Nepal for three days from August 25 to August 28. The team also visited Western Division Headquarters at Pokhara as well as the prestigious Mountain Warfare School at Jomsom.

Dr D Pradhan, Scientist ‘G’, Additional Director General of Meteorology (Instruments), IMD and Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni signed the MoU which will enable the Indian Navy to utilise the CDR building within naval premises at Kochi for meteorological purposes.
Indian Navy had requested IMD to hand over the building permanently for meteorological purposes.

The 12 Su-30 MKIs are being planned to be inducted for replacing the number of aircraft lost by the Air Force in different accidents, they said. The 12 additional Sukhois will help the Indian Air Force to maintain its fleet of 272 Su-30MKI fighters. The 21 MiG 29s that the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire are from Russia which has offered to sell these planes to help the Air Force to meet its requirement of new fighters.

“As for India’s advance payment for the S-400s, the matter has been settled. Due to objective reasons, we do not comment on technical details,” the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said at the MAKS-2019 air show, currently underway in Moscow’s Zhukovsky region.

Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu formally handed over new generation ‘Sahayak’, a vital supply system, to the Indian Navy during Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) Golden Jubilee celebrations here on Wednesday.

The exercise, named KAZIND 2019, will be held in Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Nearly 100 soldiers each from India and Kazakhstan will participate in the event. The exercise will allow both the armies an opportunity to share experiences gained during counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. The exercise is expected to boost defence co-operation and foster bilateral ties.

The PJ-10 BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile developed jointly by the Reutov-based Research and Production Association of Machine-Building (the Moscow Region) and India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Wing Commander Dhami, serving for 15 years now, has been flying choppers. She became the first woman flying instructor of the Air Force and is also the first woman officer to get permanent commission of the flying branch. She took charge of a Chetak helipcopter unit at the Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Chetak is a single engine turbo shaft, light utility helicopter with capacity of 6 passengers and has maximum speed of 220 km/hour.
