It will be powered by two General Electric LM2500 gas turbines and two MAN manufactured diesel engines. This will help the frigate achieve a top speed of 28 knots and a range of 5,500 nautical miles at a speed of 10-15 knots. It will be equipped with two long range surface to air Barak missile, surface to surface Brahmos supersonic cruise missile to deal with threats from the air. The Barak missiles will be supplied by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

Eastern Air Commander Air Marshal RD Mathur and Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan will jointly inaugurate resurfaced Vijaynagar ALG on September 18, defence spokesperson (Shillong) Wing commander Ratnakar Singh said today. A total of eight ALGs have been revived for operations by the Indian Air Force as part of steps to strengthen military infrastructure along the China border.

The first phase had 40 plus radars. The second phase is now been included. So, the entire coast has been mapped. The Indian Navy and the Coast Guard every year do a survey of all the fishing villages along the coast so that the data is available,” Adm Sunil Lanba

The P-17 Alpha Shivalik-class frigate, a stealth warship, has been built under the P-17 programme. Under the project, seven ships will be built by the Mazgaon Dock Limited and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers. It’s a follow-up of the first frigate built by the Mazgaon Dock Limited in the 1970s. The INS Khanderi is the second Scorpene-class attack submarine to be commissioned into the Indian Navy. The conventional diesel-electric submarine has been manufactured by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai under the Indian Navy’s P-75 programme under which six similar submarines will be manufactured.

Singapore’s Defence Ministry said the exercise will last five days and involve five ships from the three nations and more than 500 participants. The exercise comprises a shore phase held at Port Blair that involves planning and professional exchanges, and a sea phase in the Andaman Sea, where the navies will carry out manoeuvring, navigation, gunnery drills and boarding operations.
