The doctors of the Indian Army have achieved a new feat as they successfully removed a soldier’s appendix in a dug-in at a forward surgical centre in Eastern Ladakh at 16,000 feet.

According to HMI Group Captain Jai Kishan, the cycle rally commenced at 8.30 am from Jan Maidan in Mangpoo and will conclude at Tiger Hill via Chatakpur and 3rd Mile. A total of 55 participants from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Dooars, Siliguri and neighbouring country Nepal participated in the bicycle rally.

In a “big success” for the security forces, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief Dr Saifullah — one of the most wanted terrorists in the Kashmir valley — was gunned down during an encounter near Srinagar on Sunday.
After the death of Riyaz Naikoo in May this year, Hizbul Mujahideen was rendered leaderless until Saifullah took charge of the outfit and ran the terror machine of Pakistan in the Valley, said Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh.

The first phase of Malabar Naval exercise involving “Quad” countries – India, US, Japan and Australia – is set to commence off Visakhapatnam in Bay of Bengal from 3rd to 6th November 2020.

In a tweet on Friday, the spokesperson of the Indian Navy, said, “AShM fired by Indian Navy’s Guided Missile Corvette INS Kora hits the target at max range with precise accuracy in the Bay of Bengal. Target ship severely damaged and in flames.”

The Indian Air Force (IAF) today test-fired an air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Su-30MKI fighter. A target was hit deep in the Indian Ocean, nearly 4,000 km away, India Today reported, adding that this was “by far the longest [BrahMos] mission”.

In the quest for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, Indian Army has developed a simple and secure messaging application named the “Secure Application for Internet (SAI)”. The application supports end to end secure voice, text and video calling services for Android platform over internet.

Realising that automation is the key to empowering all stake holders to transform and become efficient, transparent and enhance accountability, Indian Army has introduced a software named the “Infrastructure Management System (IMS)’ software which was inagurated by the COAS on the sidelines of the Army Commanders Conference on 28 October 2020.

India activated a key foundational pact with the US last month to acquire urgently needed high-altitude systems for soldiers deployed to forward areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh who are likely to stay on through the winter as tensions with China continue.

Citing the naval-technology website, the 110,000 sq ft flight deck of INS Vikrant will feature two take-off runways and a landing strip equipped with three arrester wires. The STOBAR (short take-off but arrested recovery) system on an angled flight deck is used to launch and recover an aircraft from the deck of an aircraft carrier. IAC-2 will be fitted with steam catapults rather than STOBAR to launch fourth-generation aircraft.
