MoD Sets New Tules for Land Transfer to Reduce Armed Forces’ Expenditure

Under the new rules on transfer of defence land for public utilities and public infrastructure projects, the forces will effectively be able to monetise their considerable land holdings for internal use. Until now, land needed for important public works, like roads and railways, could either be exchanged for land of equivalent value, or in rare cases for payment of market prices.

India to Get 5 Military Theatre Commands, One Each for China and Pak

With the department of military affairs soon to have additional and joint secretaries after Cabinet clearance, the task of reorganisation of the three services under theatre commands has begun with a China specific Northern Command and Pakistan specific Western command under serious consideration. India’s Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat has been given the mandate by the Narendra Modi government to create theatre commands much like the ones China and the US currently have.

Myanmar Army Launches Operation Sunrise-3 to Crackdown Insurgent Groups

Myanmar army has launched Operation Sunrise-3 to crack down on various insurgent groups gathered at the Indo-Myanmar border. Zee News in its earlier report has revealed that the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K), led by Yung Aung, is consolidating its position inside Myanmar and various NSCN groups are planning to attack Indian security forces at vulnerable points in the North East region.

Defence Minister Dedicates BRO Road to the Nation in East Sikkim

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh was in Sikkim to dedicate the 19.85 Km Alternate Alignment of the National Highway 310 from km 0.00 to km 19.350 to the Nation. Necessitated due to the previous alignment having seen extensive damages due to sinking and other natural hazards, the road serves as an important link to bolster defence preparedness in the Nathula Sector in particular and in whole of East Sikkim in general.
