BonV Aero Supplies 45 Indigenous Logistics Drones to Indian Army Eastern Command

The latest supply consists of 45 UAVs intended for tactical logistics support. Eastern Command operates across some of India’s most demanding terrain, including high-altitude, forested and riverine regions where movement of essential supplies can be difficult.

Odisha-based drone startup BonV Aero has supplied 45 unmanned aerial vehicles to the Indian Army’s Eastern Command for tactical logistics missions in difficult terrain across Northeast India.

The UAVs are intended to transport critical supplies and mission-specific payloads in areas where conventional road movement can be disrupted by steep terrain, landslides, flooding, snow or poor connectivity. The deployment adds another operational use case for indigenous heavy-payload drones within the Indian Army.

Eastern Command Receives 45 Logistics UAVs

The latest supply consists of 45 UAVs intended for tactical logistics support. Eastern Command operates across some of India’s most demanding terrain, including high-altitude, forested and riverine regions where movement of essential supplies can be difficult.

In such environments, logistics drones can provide a faster alternative for carrying medicines, equipment, rations and other critical loads to forward locations. Their ability to bypass damaged or inaccessible roads can also improve resilience during adverse weather or emergency conditions.

BonV Aero Has Conducted Army Trials Across High-Altitude Regions

BonV Aero has previously carried out trials and operational demonstrations for the Indian Army in locations including Tawang, Siliguri, Kargil and Nyoma.

These areas expose UAVs to demanding operational conditions such as high altitude, low temperatures, thin air and difficult terrain. Repeated testing in such environments is important for validating payload capacity, endurance and reliability before wider military use.

The company has also trained more than 150 Army personnel in the operation and handling of its unmanned systems, helping units integrate UAV-based logistics into their routine activities.

Heavy-Payload Drones Gain Importance in Military Logistics

Heavy-lift UAVs are becoming increasingly relevant for armed forces operating in mountainous and remote areas. They can move supplies directly between locations without requiring road convoys or manned helicopter sorties for smaller payloads.

This makes them particularly useful for last-mile logistics, where relatively modest loads must be moved quickly to isolated posts. By reducing dependence on vulnerable or weather-affected surface routes, drones can complement conventional military supply chains rather than replace them.

The Indian Army has been increasing its use of unmanned systems for surveillance, logistics and tactical missions as part of a broader effort to incorporate emerging technologies into field operations.

Supply Comes Amid Wider Army Demand for Logistics Drones

The BonV Aero delivery comes as the Ministry of Defence is expanding procurement of logistics UAVs for the armed forces.

A tender has also been floated for 2,715 logistics drones, indicating that unmanned cargo systems are moving from limited experimentation towards wider operational adoption.

The scale of emerging requirements also creates opportunities for Indian drone manufacturers to develop platforms specifically suited to Himalayan and border conditions.

Indigenous Drone Startups Enter Operational Supply Chains

BonV Aero’s 45-UAV supply highlights the growing role of Indian startups in defence technology and military logistics.

Domestic drone companies are increasingly moving beyond prototypes and demonstrations into actual deliveries, training and operational deployment. This transition is important for building a sustainable indigenous unmanned-systems ecosystem with manufacturing, maintenance and technical support available within India.

It also allows military users to provide direct feedback to manufacturers, accelerating improvements in payload capacity, endurance, autonomy and high-altitude performance.

Logistics Drones Strengthen High-Altitude Supply Capability

The delivery of 45 UAVs to Eastern Command marks another step in the Indian Army’s adoption of indigenous drone technology for practical battlefield logistics.

BonV Aero’s experience in high-altitude trials, personnel training and field deployment gives the programme a stronger operational foundation. As the Army expands its logistics-drone fleet, indigenous systems are becoming an increasingly important part of India’s effort to build faster, more flexible and more resilient supply networks across challenging border terrain.
