Sowing Area of Kharif Crops 21.2 % More Compared to Last Year

As on 16.07.2020, actual rainfall received in the country is 338.3 mm against normal of 308.4 mm i.e. departure of (+) 10% during the period from 01.06.2020 to 16.07.2020. As on 16.07.2020 as per report of CWC, the live water storage available in 123 reservoirs in the country is 150 % of live storage of corresponding period of last year and 133% of storage of average of last ten years.

Automotive Technology e-Portal- One Stop Solution for Indian Auto Industry -‘AatmaNirbhar’ Bharat

Department of Heavy Industry (DHI), Govt of India, has embarked on a mission to promote innovation, R&D and product development in India for various sectors. A step towards this mission is the creation of technology platform e-portals where such technology development, information exchange and innovation can be facilitated. There are five portals being developed for specific sectors by different organizations viz, BHEL for power sector equipment, HMT for machine tools, CMFTI for manufacturing technology, ICAT and ARAI for automotive sector.

Approval Accorded to Zonal Master Plan of Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone

In a review meeting of the CHAARDHAAM ROAD PROJECT in the State of Uttarakhand via Video Conferencing, Union Environment Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar informed that the Zonal Master Plan(ZMP), prepared by the Government of Uttarakhand and appraised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, has been accorded approval by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change(MoEF&CC) on 16th July,2020.

India on Track to Achieving the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) Targets

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan, speaking on the success achieved by India on the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), said, “Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) of India has declined by 9 points in one year as per the Special Bulletin on MMR released by the Registrar General of India. The ratio has declined from 122 in 2015-17 to 113 in 2016-18 (7.4 % decline).” He highlighted that the country has been witnessing a progressive reduction in MMR from 167 in 2011-2013, 130 in 2014-2016, 122 in 2015-17, and to 113 in 2016-18.

Researchers Develop Method to Produce Biofuel from Non-Edible Waste Seeds

There have been worldwide attempts to produce fuel from renewable biological resources in order to overcome future oil shortages in the world. But conversion of food resources to fuel affect the global supply-demand of food, especially in developing countries. To tackle this problem, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati researchers have developed methods to produce biofuels from non-edible seeds.
