PMKVY 3.0 Aims to Train Eight Lakh Candidates

In a bid to empower India’s youth with employable skills, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Friday launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 3.0, in nearly 600 districts making 300+ skill courses available to the youth, making skill development more demand-driven and decentralised in its approach.

IIT-Indore Scientists Uncover A New Approach to Inhibit Zika Virus Replication-

A recent study by a team of scientists from IIT Indore promises to help address the problem. They have identified specific secondary structures called G-quadruplexes (GQ) in the RNA of the virus that could act as drug binding sites. These structures made of nucleic acids have proven to be effective drug-targeting sites for anti-cancer treatment and is recently being explored for other diseases as well.

Ajit Doval Goes to Afghanistan, Focus on Terror

In a trip that was kept under wraps before it got underway, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday visited Afghanistan for talks on strategic issues with the leadership in Kabul. The Afghan government said the conversations were about “synchronising efforts to combat terrorism and build peace”.

Drones Worth ₹ 130 Crore For Army In Deal With Company Of Ex-IITians

A company formed by three alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Bombay) and incubated by the top engineering institute has signed a ₹ 130-crore deal with the Indian Army to make drones. The company, ideaForge Technology, was founded at the IIT-Bombay incubator SINE in 2007 by Ankit Mehta, Rahul Singh and Ashish Bhat.

Phase-2 of Bengaluru Metro Inaugurated

The Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase-2 covers a route length of 74 km with 62 stations and consists of extensions to both Purple and Green lines of Phase-1 in all the four directions totaling 34 km and two new lines viz. Gotigere-Nagawara for a route length of 21 km & R V Road- Bommasandra for a route length of 19 km.

In terms of domain areas, presently the innovations cover Energy, mechanical, automobile, electrical, electronics, household, chemical, civil, textiles, Farm / cultivation practice, storage practice, plant variety, plant protection, poultry, livestock management, nutraceuticals etc.
