Formoflo-G Triple-Combination Inhaler for COPD

Lupin Launches Formoflo-G Triple-Combination Inhaler for COPD in India

Triple inhaler therapy is generally used in patients who require broader control of airflow limitation and respiratory symptoms than can be achieved with a single bronchodilator or dual therapy alone.

Indian pharmaceutical major Lupin has launched Formoflo-G MDI in India, expanding its respiratory portfolio with a triple-combination inhaler for the long-term management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

The inhaler has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India and is intended for twice-daily use in appropriate patients under medical supervision.

Triple Therapy in a Single Inhaler

Formoflo-G combines three established classes of COPD therapy in one metered-dose inhaler.

Triple inhaler therapy is generally used in patients who require broader control of airflow limitation and respiratory symptoms than can be achieved with a single bronchodilator or dual therapy alone.

By combining multiple mechanisms of action in a single device, the treatment can simplify administration for patients who would otherwise need separate inhalers.

Focus on Long-Term COPD Management

COPD is a chronic respiratory condition characterised by persistent airflow limitation and symptoms such as breathlessness, cough and reduced exercise capacity.

Management usually focuses on controlling symptoms, reducing exacerbations and maintaining lung function and quality of life.

Inhaled therapies remain central to treatment because they deliver medication directly to the airways while limiting systemic exposure compared with some oral therapies.

Lupin Strengthens Its Respiratory Portfolio

Lupin has built a significant presence in respiratory medicines across both domestic and international markets.

The launch of Formoflo-G adds another combination therapy to that portfolio and reflects the company’s continued focus on chronic respiratory disease management.

The Indian market for inhaled therapies has expanded steadily as diagnosis of asthma and COPD improves and more patients gain access to maintenance treatment.

Why Combination Inhalers Matter

For chronic respiratory diseases, treatment adherence can be affected by the number of medicines and devices a patient must use each day.

A single inhaler that combines multiple therapeutic components can help simplify treatment regimens, although correct inhaler technique remains essential for effectiveness.

Physicians also need to select patients carefully because triple therapy is not required for every person with COPD.

Expanding Access to Advanced Respiratory Therapy

The launch of Formoflo-G gives Indian clinicians another treatment option within the expanding range of inhaled therapies available for COPD.

Its significance lies in bringing a multi-drug maintenance regimen into a single inhaler format while strengthening domestic access to therapies already used in advanced respiratory care.

For Lupin, the product also reinforces a long-running strategic focus on respiratory medicine and chronic disease management.
