New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister Abdelkader Messahel called on President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Welcoming Mr Messahel, Mr Kovind said that Algeria being the sixth largest exporter of gas and the 13th largest producer of petroleum products should consider similar investments in India in mutual interest, particularly in oil reserves, refineries and Liquified Natural Gas.
The President noted that in the recent past, several countries in the Arab world had invested in refineries, pipelines and related infrastructure in India.
India and Algeria are cooperating in several strategic areas including space, defence and civil nuclear energy.
He said that India and Algeria enjoy traditionally warm and historic relations strengthened by regular exchange of high-level visits between the two countries.
