Nearly One Lakh Youth Access Prime Minister Internship Scheme Through MY Bharat Platform

The Department of Youth Affairs, through its flagship initiative Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), has facilitated nearly one lakh young people across the country to access the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), significantly expanding awareness and participation in the programme aimed at enhancing youth employability and strengthening industry engagement.

According to information shared by the government in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on July 23, 2026, the Department of Youth Affairs has partnered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to promote the Prime Minister Internship Scheme through the MY Bharat digital platform and its nationwide volunteer network. As part of this collaboration, a dedicated Prime Minister Internship Scheme Volunteer Opportunity has been made available on the MY Bharat portal, allowing eligible youth to learn about the scheme and seamlessly access the PMIS portal for registration and application.

The initiative has witnessed encouraging participation from across the country. As of July 16, 2026, a total of 98,632 youth had been redirected from the MY Bharat platform to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal to complete their registration and submit applications. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of redirected youth with 10,838 applicants, followed by Maharashtra with 10,213, Andhra Pradesh with 8,475 and Tamil Nadu with 7,125. Other states with notable participation include Madhya Pradesh (5,034), West Bengal (5,093), Rajasthan (4,988), Delhi (4,911), Telangana (4,729) and Bihar (4,418), reflecting broad nationwide engagement with the initiative.

To strengthen outreach and facilitate direct interaction between young job seekers and industry, the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, in partnership with MY Bharat, has also organised three internship outreach camps in different parts of the country. The camps provided an opportunity for youth to interact directly with participating companies, understand available internship roles, learn about industry expectations and complete application formalities on the spot. More than 600 youth participated in the camp organised in Chennai, over 90 attended the Pune camp, while the highest participation was recorded in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, where more than 800 young people took part.

The government said the collaboration between MY Bharat and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is helping build a structured pathway for young people to access industry internship opportunities through a nationwide digital platform supported by extensive mobilisation and outreach efforts. By improving awareness, expanding access to internships and strengthening connections between youth, industry and government initiatives, the programme aims to equip young Indians with practical workplace experience and industry-relevant skills.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader vision of creating a Skilled and Employable Bharat and supports the long-term goal of Viksit Bharat@2047 by preparing India’s youth to become future-ready professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s socio-economic development.
