India, Uzbekistan Launch 7th Edition of Joint Military Exercise Dustlik in Namangan

According to the official report, this year’s exercise is focused on joint special operations designed around the neutralisation of unlawful armed groups. The drill is intended to improve tactical synergy, sharpen mission planning, and build mutual familiarity in handling shared security challenges in complex operational environments.

The seventh edition of the annual India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise Dustlik has begun at the Gurumsaray Field Training Area in Namangan, Uzbekistan, marking another step forward in defence cooperation between the two countries. The bilateral exercise opened on April 16, 2026, and is aimed at strengthening operational coordination and interoperability between the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army.

According to the official report, this year’s exercise is focused on joint special operations designed around the neutralisation of unlawful armed groups. The drill is intended to improve tactical synergy, sharpen mission planning, and build mutual familiarity in handling shared security challenges in complex operational environments.

The Indian Army said Exercise Dustlik reflects the shared commitment of India and Uzbekistan to global peace and security, while also reinforcing defence cooperation, camaraderie and mutual trust between the two armed forces. The opening ceremony was attended by Major General Saidov Oybek Azadovich, Commander of the Eastern Military District of Uzbekistan, as chief guest.

The exercise will continue until April 25, 2026, and is expected to provide both sides an opportunity to exchange operational practices, strengthen professional bonds and deepen bilateral military ties. With each edition, Dustlik has grown into an important platform for practical cooperation, reflecting the wider strategic warmth in India-Uzbekistan relations.
