C-DOT’s Indigenous AI-Driven Fraud Detection Solution ‘FraudPro’

India’s AI-Driven Telecom Security Platform ‘FraudPro’ Among Global Finalists at Mobile World Congress 2026

India’s indigenous telecom technology has earned global recognition after an advanced fraud detection platform developed by Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) was shortlisted among the top finalists at the prestigious Global Mobile Awards during Mobile World Congress 2026.

The solution, named FraudPro, is an AI-driven fraud detection system designed to identify and prevent fraudulent mobile connections across telecom networks. It was selected in the “Best Network Security and Fraud Prevention” category, placing it among the most innovative telecom security technologies showcased at the event.

Addressing the Rising Challenge of Telecom Identity Fraud

With the rapid expansion of digital connectivity and increasing dependence on mobile-based services, telecom operators and governments worldwide are facing growing challenges related to identity-based fraud and misuse of telecom networks.

To address this problem, C-DOT developed FraudPro, an advanced platform that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to detect suspicious mobile connections and identify fraudulent identities at scale.

The system applies large-scale image deduplication techniques, forged document detection, and identity re-verification mechanisms to detect cases where a single individual may attempt to obtain multiple connections using manipulated or duplicate identification documents.

By identifying such irregularities early, the platform enables telecom operators to proactively block fraudulent connections and prevent misuse of telecom resources.

Integration with India’s Digital Security Platforms

In India, FraudPro has been deployed by the Department of Telecommunications as part of the country’s broader digital security ecosystem.

The platform operates within the Digital Intelligence Platform and supports the Sanchar Saathi Portal, a public service platform that allows citizens to report telecom fraud, track lost mobile phones, and verify mobile connections registered in their name.

Through these integrations, FraudPro contributes to strengthening telecom network integrity and protecting users from identity-based telecom misuse.

Recognition at One of the World’s Largest Telecom Events

The GSMA, which represents the global mobile industry, organises the Global Mobile Awards annually at Mobile World Congress. The awards are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious recognitions in the telecommunications sector, celebrating innovations that are transforming digital connectivity worldwide.

Being selected as a finalist at Mobile World Congress, held annually in Barcelona, highlights the growing global recognition of India’s indigenous telecom technologies.

Strengthening India’s Indigenous Telecom Innovation

The recognition of FraudPro at MWC 2026 marks an important milestone for India’s telecom research ecosystem. It demonstrates the country’s growing capability to develop advanced cybersecurity solutions and fraud prevention technologies for large-scale digital networks.

The achievement also reflects the broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which aims to promote indigenous technological innovation and reduce dependence on foreign technologies.

By building secure and resilient telecom infrastructure through home-grown solutions like FraudPro, India is increasingly positioning itself as a key contributor to next-generation global telecom technologies while strengthening the security of its expanding digital ecosystem.
