RailOne Crosses 4.76 Crore Downloads, Handles 10 Lakh Ticket Bookings Daily

The app combines major passenger services on one digital platform. These include reserved tickets, unreserved tickets, platform tickets, train enquiries, PNR status and RailMadad.

Indian Railways’ RailOne app has crossed 4.76 crore downloads and now handles an average of 10 lakh ticket bookings every day.

The app combines major passenger services on one digital platform. These include reserved tickets, unreserved tickets, platform tickets, train enquiries, PNR status and RailMadad.

Railways launched RailOne on July 1, 2025, to expand digital ticketing and simplify access to railway services.

10 Lakh Tickets Booked Every Day

As of August 2, 2026, passengers booked an average of 10 lakh tickets daily through RailOne.

This included around 2.79 lakh reserved tickets and 7.24 lakh unreserved tickets.

The app uses a Single Sign-On system. Passengers can therefore access several railway services with one login instead of using different apps and passwords.

Indian Railways describes RailOne as its official integrated passenger services app.

One App for Multiple Railway Services

RailOne brings several public-facing railway services together.

Passengers can plan journeys, book tickets, check train information and seek assistance through the same platform.

The integration reduces the need to install separate railway applications. It also gives passengers easier access to reservation services through their mobile phones.

Railways has steadily moved ticket booking toward digital platforms. Around 89% of reserved tickets are now booked online.

In comparison, online bookings accounted for about 49% of reserved tickets in 2013-14.

Digital booking has also expanded in the unreserved segment. Nearly 39% of unreserved tickets are now purchased through non-counter channels.

NTES Handles Over 6 Crore Enquiries Daily

Indian Railways’ National Train Enquiry System (NTES) continues to play a major role in providing real-time train information.

Railways introduced NTES in 2000. The system provides arrival and departure updates, schedules and train-running information.

Passengers can access NTES through its website, mobile apps, enquiry counters and Rail Enquiry Number 139.

The platform offers features such as Spot Your Train, Live Station, Train Schedule and Trains Between Stations.

NTES now processes more than 6 crore enquiries every day and handles around 80,000 concurrent users.

More Than 4.6 Crore NTES App Downloads

The NTES mobile app has also built a large user base.

Railways launched its Android version in October 2014 and the iOS version in October 2015.

By August 1, 2026, the Android app had crossed 4.5 crore downloads. The iOS version had recorded another 16 lakh downloads.

Digital access to train-running information has reduced passenger dependence on railway enquiry counters.

This shift has helped cut queues and waiting times at stations.

Automatic Refunds for Cancelled Trains

Indian Railways also provides automatic refunds for online e-tickets when trains are cancelled.

The Next Generation E-Ticketing system, or NGeT, starts the refund process after the scheduled departure time of the cancelled train.

The railway system then credits the applicable refund to the passenger’s bank account.

However, this facility currently applies only to online e-tickets. Passengers with counter tickets must visit a Passenger Reservation System counter to claim refunds.

Railways Accelerates Digital Passenger Services

RailOne and NTES highlight the scale of Indian Railways’ shift toward digital passenger services.

RailOne focuses on integrated ticketing and passenger support. NTES provides near real-time train-running information to millions of users.

Together, these platforms reduce dependence on physical counters while giving passengers faster access to essential railway services.

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the figures in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on August 12, 2026.
