Online applications opened on 21 October 2026 and will remain available until 5 p.m. on 9 November 2026. The company has issued Advertisement No. L&DC/04/2026, detailing eligibility requirements, training categories, monthly stipends and the selection procedure.

NLC India Expands Industrial Training Opportunities

NLC India operates in the mining and power generation sectors, with activities spanning lignite production, thermal electricity generation and renewable energy development. Its operations require a skilled workforce capable of supporting industrial machinery, electrical installations, mechanical equipment and associated technical services.

The latest apprenticeship programme offers candidates an opportunity to gain practical experience within a major public sector industrial organisation. Participants will undergo structured training designed to connect their academic and technical qualifications with workplace requirements.

The programme covers traditional industrial trades alongside professional disciplines such as computer science, commerce, business administration, geology, chemistry, nursing and pharmacy.

By including both ITI-qualified candidates and non-engineering graduates, NLC India has broadened the range of educational backgrounds represented in its apprenticeship intake.

700 Apprenticeship Positions for ITI Candidates

The largest component of the programme consists of 700 Trade Apprentice positions distributed across ten technical trades.

NLC India has allocated 125 positions each for fitters and electricians, reflecting the importance of mechanical assembly, equipment maintenance and electrical systems in industrial operations.

The programme also includes 120 positions for welders, 110 each for motor vehicle mechanics and wiremen, and 45 for turners. These trades support the maintenance and operation of equipment used in large industrial establishments.

Additional opportunities are available for computer operators and programming assistants, stenographers, diesel mechanics, and refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanics.

Candidates must possess an ITI qualification in the relevant trade from a recognised institution. Selection will be based on the prescribed eligibility requirements and marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

The inclusion of mechanical, electrical and computer-related trades provides training opportunities across several functions associated with industrial operations and technical support.

367 Positions for Non-Engineering Graduates

NLC India has also announced 367 apprenticeship opportunities for candidates holding degrees in non-engineering disciplines.

Computer science accounts for the largest number of graduate positions, with 93 training slots. Business administration follows with 72 positions, while commerce graduates have access to 70 opportunities.

The programme includes 45 positions for computer application graduates, 36 for nursing graduates, 26 for chemistry graduates and 14 for geology graduates.

Additional training opportunities are available for microbiology graduates and candidates qualified in allopathic and Ayurvedic pharmacy.

These disciplines reflect the administrative, scientific, healthcare and technical-support functions required within a large industrial organisation.

Graduates must hold the qualifications prescribed for their respective disciplines. The programme specifies regular, full-time degree qualifications and additional eligibility conditions that applicants must satisfy before submitting their applications.

Monthly Stipends Range from ₹12,000 to ₹16,678

Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training for 12 months and receive a monthly stipend determined by their training category.

ITI Trade Apprentices will receive ₹12,000 per month during the training period.

Most Graduate Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹14,174. Candidates selected for nursing and pharmacy disciplines will receive ₹16,678 per month.

The financial support is intended to assist participants during their practical training while they gain experience in an established industrial environment.

Apprenticeship training differs from regular employment. Successful completion of the programme does not automatically guarantee permanent or temporary employment with NLC India.

Nevertheless, the experience may help participants improve their technical knowledge, professional skills and familiarity with workplace practices.

Eligibility Restricted to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Candidates

The apprenticeship programme is intended for eligible candidates from Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of 31 October 2026 and possess the educational qualifications prescribed for their chosen training category.

ITI applicants must hold recognised qualifications in the relevant trade. Graduate applicants must possess the specified bachelor’s degrees and satisfy the applicable conditions concerning their educational background and year of qualification.

The recruitment notice also contains restrictions concerning candidates who have previously completed or are currently undergoing certain apprenticeship or internship programmes.

Applicants must carefully examine these conditions before applying, particularly those relating to previous apprenticeship experience and the prescribed educational qualifications.

Selection Based on Academic Merit

NLC India will select apprentices primarily through merit lists prepared using marks obtained in the relevant qualifying examinations.

For Trade Apprentices, the selection process will consider the prescribed ITI qualification and applicable academic criteria. Graduate Apprentices will be assessed according to the marks obtained in their qualifying degree examinations.

The company has indicated tentative dates for publishing the selection lists and commencing apprenticeship training.

The Trade Apprentice selection list is expected on 23 November 2026, while the Graduate Apprentice selection list is tentatively scheduled for 25 November 2026.

The proposed joining dates are 27 November for Trade Apprentices and 2 December for Graduate Apprentices.

These dates remain tentative and may change according to administrative requirements.

Selected candidates will also need to satisfy document verification and other conditions specified in the recruitment notification.

Applications Close on 9 November 2026

Eligible candidates must submit their applications through NLC India’s official website.

The online registration process began at 10 a.m. on 21 October and will close at 5 p.m. on 9 November 2026.

Applicants should access the Careers section of the company’s website and locate the Trainees and Apprentices recruitment information relating to Advertisement No. L&DC/04/2026.

Candidates must provide accurate educational and personal information and submit the documents required under the notification.

The company has advised applicants to follow the official instructions carefully, as incomplete applications or discrepancies in supporting documents may affect eligibility.

Candidates should retain their application details and monitor the company’s official website for selection lists and further announcements.

Strengthening India’s Technical and Professional Workforce

Industrial apprenticeship programmes play an important role in connecting formal education with practical workplace training.

India’s mining, power generation, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors require workers who understand modern industrial equipment, maintenance procedures, electrical systems and technical operations.

Practical training within a large public sector enterprise can expose candidates to established workplace procedures, equipment-maintenance practices, organisational systems and professional responsibilities.

The inclusion of computer science, business administration, healthcare and scientific disciplines also recognises the wider range of skills required to operate modern industrial enterprises.

For NLC India, the programme provides an opportunity to contribute to technical education and workforce development while supporting the broader objectives of India’s apprenticeship framework.

The initiative also aligns with national efforts to improve employability by encouraging industry-based training and practical skill development.

Supporting Skill Development and Industrial Employment Readiness

NLC India’s apprenticeship programme represents a substantial training initiative for eligible ITI candidates and non-engineering graduates from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

With 1,067 training positions spanning 20 trades and disciplines, the programme provides opportunities to develop practical skills across industrial, scientific, administrative and technical fields.

The 12-month training structure offers participants experience in a major public sector enterprise while helping them develop knowledge relevant to future professional opportunities.

As India’s energy and industrial sectors continue to evolve, structured apprenticeship programmes will remain important for preparing skilled personnel capable of supporting modern manufacturing, infrastructure and technological development.
