NEW DELHI: Continuing with its focus on development of the north-east states, the government has spent approximately Rs 30 crore per day on the region in the first 50 days of Modi 2.0. Development of northeastern region (DoNER) minister Jitendra Singh said in the first term of the Modi government, the primary focus was not only to bring northeast closer to the rest of India, but actually to bring the “Rest of India” closer to north-east.
“The same priorities continue in the Modi 2.0 term, with a time-bound and streamlined approach,”Singh said and added, “The development is envisaged to be all inclusive, that is, inclusive of all regions, as well as all spheres and all dimensions.”
Singh said keeping in tune with a targeted delivery mechanism, an action plan has been formulated by the DoNER as two items of the ministry have been included in the 100 Days Plan of Action of Government.
“Under the action plan, the focus is to operationalise 200 projects worth about Rs 3,000 crore, which means on an average for Rs 30 crore per day,”he said.
He said approval has also been accorded for the first Bamboo Industrial Park to be set up at Dima Hasao district of Assam in an area of 75 hectares at a cost of Rs 50 crore. This project is targeted to be completed by March 2021.
