India’s GST Collections Climb Nearly 14% to ₹1.95 Lakh Crore in June

India’s gross GST collections reached ₹1.94 lakh crore in June, marking a 13.9% year-on-year increase and coming close to the ₹2 lakh crore milestone. The strong performance was largely driven by a sharp rise in GST revenues from imports.

Domestic GST collections stood at ₹1.35 lakh crore, reflecting a 6.5% increase compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, GST collected on imports surged 34.6% to ₹60,038 crore, making it the biggest contributor to the month’s overall growth.

After adjusting for refunds, net GST collections rose 11.2% to ₹1.62 lakh crore. During the month, the government issued ₹32,436 crore in refunds, a 29.1% increase over last year, indicating quicker processing of refund claims. Domestic refunds grew 42.9%, while export-related refunds increased 15.6%.

For the April–June quarter of FY27, gross GST collections stood at ₹6.32 lakh crore, up 8.4% from the same period last year. Net GST collections for the quarter rose 7.1% to ₹5.40 lakh crore.

Among the states, Uttar Pradesh led the growth in domestic GST collections with a 19% increase, followed by Assam (17%), Punjab (14%), and Gujarat (12%). Telangana and Kerala each recorded 11% growth, Karnataka grew 10%, and Maharashtra posted a 9% increase. In contrast, Tamil Nadu saw a 2% decline, while Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh recorded 5% decreases in domestic GST collections.
