While unveiling the book titled “Rewinding of First 25 years of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology,” Mr. Ajay Prakash Sawhney stated that India has added about 40 unicorns in the previous 50 weeks in the startup world. He further stated that the foundation was laid in the last 30 years by people like Mr. Oberoi.
He also mentioned that India’s software exports increased to Rs 5,00,000 crore today compared to Rs 51 crore in 1987, representing a 35% annual growth for the last 30 years.
Mr. S.S. Oberoi, the former adviser at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), who authored the book stated that it is not just the book, but a narration of how things used to happen at the DoE.
Others dignitaries who were present at the unveiling through video conferencing included KV Ramani, Chancellor Sai University; Harish Mehta, Founder Onward Technologies; Ashank Desai, Founder Mastek; Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman Indian Angel Network; Dr.Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI, and Dr. B.M. Baveja, Ex-Group Coordinator & Director, MeitY. Mr. Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, CyberMedia Group, who helped publish the book also attended the launch.
