How Great Men Stir Young Minds

The lives of great men and their contributions to history inspired students at the second day of the two-day annual Zindagi Fest of Mount Litera Zee School in Pardih in association with The Telegraph on Saturday.

The exhibition organised by the students on the school campus reflected how historical greats have an enduring impact on impressionable minds.

Four houses of the school picked a theme of their choice to showcase what they have learnt from their idols.

“Chanakya was a pioneer of foreign policy, diplomacy and leadership. The ideas that he had enunciated between 371BC and 283BC are being followed even in modern times. We have also put on display things like feather pens and lanterns that were used during that period,” said Class VI student Anukriti Verma said.

The group, which had picked Buddha as its theme, displayed his birth at Lumbini, his renunciation of the material world and his journey to enlightenment. Some students who were seen meditating and chanting Buddhist mantras.

Most of the students in the group that put up an exhibition on Raja Ram Mohan Roy did not know about the Sati practice . Class VII student Ayesha Nizam played a role of a woman protesting the barbaric practice in a short skit.

“I never knew such a practice existed until we researched about Raja Ram Mohan Roy,” Ayesha said.

The group depicting the life and work of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan showed how he connected ancient Indian and British systems for an interactive education structure.

“Changemakers are what we are looking at. If we want them to achieve something great, we will have to showcase examples from where we can seek inspiration,” principal Kabita Agarwal said.
