The first India-made Dornier 228 aircraft was delivered to Alliance Air on Thursday. The aircraft can carry up to seventeen passengers and is capable of running day and night operations.
The aircraft will facilitate regional connectivity in north-eastern states, providing better connectivity.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) signed a lease agreement with Alliance Air Aviation Ltd in September 2021 for the supply of two civil Dornier 228 aircraft.
The Dornier 228 is an aircraft well-suited for operations in northeast India. It has the capability of short take-off and landing and can land and take-off from semi-prepared runways.
