The newly manufactured semi high-speed passenger WAP-7HS locomotive is expected to facilitate operation of premium trains of Indian Railways such as Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duranto Express at higher speed.
“It is a special mission for us. We will be using a PSLV rocket with four strap-on motors. Further, for the first time we will be trying to orbit the rocket at three different altitudes,” K. “Many such frames are available in the market, but their cost is prohibitive. The 3D arc we developed is an indigenous frame, conceptualised and designed in Bengaluru. Both the hardware and software are from here. It’s now available at one-third the cost of imported frames,” said Dr Venkataramana.
