In a bid to gear up for the event, a half-day interactive workshop was held in New Delhi yesterday which was inaugurated by the Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences Dr. M. Rajeevan, and Secretary Coal & Mines, Anil Kumar Jain.
This fair, which is called Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadaljara in Spanish, is the biggest book fair in the Spanish-speaking world. Shri Sanjay Dhotre delivered the inaugural address at the book fair during its opening yesterday. The National Book Trust (NBT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India (GoI), is participating as the nodal agency of the GoI in this book fair.
The three-day event would, among other things, feature an investors meeting, an exhibition, webinars, hackathons, and business to business meetings. It will showcase key biotechnological innovations, products, services, and technologies from national and international companies, start-ups and research institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Harsh Vardhan expressed India’s continued commitment in scientific research, its translation and commercialization and laid emphasis on how this event would be a huge opportunity to showcase India’s strength and build new partnerships and investment opportunities.
While briefing the media, Shri R. Subrahmanyam said that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) along with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and NTUitive Pte Ltd are co-organizing the 2nd edition of Singapore India Hackathon at IIT Madras, Chennai. He added that the Singapore India Hackathon 2019 will be flagged off on September28, 2019 in the presence of the MoS, HRD, Shri. Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre.
The other research products that have emerged from the institute’s collaboration with people from various industries include a bulletproof jacket 22 per cent lighter than existing ones; a waterless shampoo, and a waterless body wash that would not require the use of water and could prove useful for astronauts and soldiers.
