FM Announces Short Term and Long-Term Measures for Supporting the Poor

Hon’ble Prime Minister announced a Special economic and comprehensive package of Rs 20 lakh Crore – equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP on 12th May 2020. He gave a clarion call for आत्मनिर्भर भारत अभियान or Self-Reliant India Movement. He also outlined five pillars of Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand.

ATAL PENSION YOJANA-Completion of 5 Years with 2.23 Crore Enrollment

The journey of APY over these five years has been phenomenal and as on 9th May 2020, the total enrolment under the scheme stood at 2,23,54,028. During the first two years of its launch, almost 50 lakh subscribers were enrolled which doubled to 100 lakh in the third year and the milestone of 1.50 crore was achieved in the 4th year. In the last financial year, almost 70 lakh subscribers were enrolled under the scheme.

PM Modi Gives A Call for Self-Reliant India- Atmanirbhar Bharat

Prime Minister announced a special economic package and gave a clarion call for Atmanirbhar Bharat. PM Modi noted that this package, taken together with earlier announcements by the government during covid-19 crisis and decisions taken by RBI, is to the tune of ₹20 lakh crore, which is equivalent to almost 10% of India’s GDP.

India To Soon Get A New Gas Policy

With current pricing formula making natural gas production economically unviable, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday hinted at bringing in a new gas policy as well as launching a gas exchange very soon as part of reforms to promote greater use of environment-friendly fuel in the world’s third-largest energy-consuming nation.

The weather department has started including Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh’s Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan) and Muzaffarabad, which are under Pakistan’s illegal occupation, under the Jammu and Kashmir meteorological sub-division since May 5, said Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of the Regional Meteorological Department that gives forecast for the northwest meteorological division of the IMD.
