Active operations and specific intelligence inputs on the movement of militants in the violence-ridden state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has brought down the average active life of a militant.

A tri-services delegation of senior military officials Sunday left for Myanmarese capital city of Nay Pyi Taw as part of a first ever exchange programme.

The strategic surface-to-surface missile was flight tested from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, earlier known as Wheeler Island, at about 8.35 am, defence sources said.

Vikram, the first of its class of seven Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) from India, arrived in the UAE on Friday, and will be berthed in Dubai’s Rashid Port till Monday.

The drop-tank made of glass fibre reinforced plastic composite material, withstood 25 hours of sloshing and vibration and 15 hours of only sloshing. These crucial tests are a final operation clearance requirement for enhancing the tank life to 3,000 flying hours and to obtain full certification.

The recommendation for the imposition of President’s Rule in J&K was given by state Governor Satya Pal Malik, who had sent a report to the Centre. The proposal to impose President’s Rule in J&K was approved by the Union Cabinet.
