A process to replace 352 VDC members and 117 VDC SPOs who are above the age of 60 years has been set into motion,” the officer said.
The SPOs, who have overstayed at a particular place have also been replaced. Besides this, 9 VDC SPOs have been disengaged from the VDC rolls for non compliance of orders, the officer said.
In response to the recently held SPOs recruitment, he said a list of around 85 meritorious candidates was sent to police headquarters for final approval.

Indian Navy Raises New Air Squadron to Add Strength to India’s Act East policy

The Navy told, “Indian Navy is set to commission the fifth Dornier Aircraft Squadron, Indian Naval Air Squadron (INAS) 313 at Chennai on 22 July 19. The new Air Squadron is scheduled to be commissioned by Admiral Karambir Singh at Naval Air Enclave, Meenambakkam.” Commissioning of the Air Squadron under Eastern Naval Command would further strengthen Indian Navy’s efforts in maintaining constant surveillance and safe guarding maritime interests in the Eastern Seaboard of India, added Navy.

Two Strategically Important Bridges Near IB Inaugurated

The bridges, near the International Border, have been built under Project Sampark, braving Pakistani shelling and weather vagaries during the monsoon season, officials said. The 1,000-metre Ujh bridge in Kathua is the longest constructed by the Border Roads Organisation and it uses the precast segment technology, a defence spokesman said.The 617-metre Basantar bridge in Samba has been built at a cost of Rs 41.7 crore on Rajpura–Madwal–Pangadur–Phulpur road over Basantar river.
