India Hands Over 2 More Mi-24V Helicopters to Afghanistan

The helicopters handed over during a ceremony held at the military airport in Kabul. According to the Afghan Ministry of Defence, the occasion was also attended by Afghanistan’s acting defence minister Asadullah Khalid. These choppers are replacements for the four helicopters India gave to Afghanistan in 2015 and 2016.

“Security agencies deployed along the international border have been given the clearance to shoot down drone crossing the boundary and flying at 1,000 feet and below,” government sources told news agency ANI. For any drone flying at heights above 1,000 feet, the final clearance will have to be taken from the agencies concerned as the flying object can be an aeroplane also, the sources said.

Tanzanian Navy Chief Receives Indian Ships on Port of Call

“The pilot project of the integrated perimeter security system (IPSS) at the Pathankot airbase will be completed by November-December. It will then be replicated in other bases,” says IAF chief Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria. Top sources say IAF plans to install the IPSS, which is a “comprehensive multi-sensor, multi-layered, hi-tech surveillance and intrusion detection system”, at 23 “sensitive and high-risk” airbases. Concurrently, the force is also pushing the case for “electric smart power fences” for 19 other air stations.
