The Rheinmetall Group is Europe’s foremost supplier of defence and security ware and is a partner of the armed forces of Germany, a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) ally. It is gradually transforming into a global player with a series of acquisitions and setting up of foreign subsidiaries.

The Centre on Wednesday decided to withdraw 100 companies of security forces from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The decision was taken after a security review by the ministry of home affairs (MHA). The companies of paramilitary personnel to be withdrawn include 40 companies of CRPF and 20 each of the BSF, CISF and SSB from the Kashmir Valley, officials said.

Major endeavour to manufacture Aircraft Carrier is heading for an important phase as the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), INS Vikrant, is set to begin testing in waters (Basin Test) with its systems and equipment fitted. Basin trials are conducted for proving of the propulsion (move), transmission (electricity) and shafting systems which can be tested only out of waters.

“Interceptor Boat ‘ICGS C-454’, built by Larsen and Toubro, was launched into the service of the Coast Guard by Surat district Collector Dhaval Patel’s wife, Dr Hiral Patel,” it said. The 27-meter-long boat has a maximum speed of 45 nautical miles or 83 kilometers per hour, and has “excellent seakeeping, maneuverability and endurance range of 500 nautical miles”, the release added.

The government has prepared a roadmap to export indigenously-developed weapon systems and platforms, and will use diplomatic channels to promote them in overseas markets, said Union defence production secretary Raj Kumar on Monday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chhattisgarh government and the Atmastco Ltd on Monday for establishing the first unit of defence category industry that will produce bulletproof jackets and helmets in the state.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal of the National Cadet Corps for a major expansion scheme to meet the aspirations of youth in all the border and coastal districts.

The proposals of the scheme were announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address on 15 Aug.
