Indian security forces comprising of the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF have eliminated 12 terrorists in the last three days. This includes three terrorists being killed in Shopian, two killed in Bijbehara and two killed in Anantnag who carried out the brutal killing of a territorial army jawan.
Village defence committees (VDCs) are an important part of the anti-militancy grid in Jammu and Kashmir and were first set up in the mid-1990s in Chenab Valley area to arm and train villagers to defend against Pak-sponsored militants. VDCs comprise villagers as well as police officers. There are 4125 VDCs in the UT as per the latest official figures The Indian Army trains them from time to time in weapons handling and intelligence gathering skills.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Defence Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev in New Delhi on April 09, 2021. DRDO chairman G Sateesh Reddy told TOI: “The anti-drone system today is completely laser based and we’ve demonstrated that. We’re developing higher power lasers, naturally the range of kill gets enlarged and we can also engage some other kinds of targets too. We should be able to demonstrate this this year.”
“Both sides recognised that the bilateral security dialogue has helped institutionalise cooperation in the area of intelligence-sharing as well as in identifying new areas for security cooperation, including cyber security,” said a joint statement issued after the meeting.
