India’s emerging private satellite-manufacturing sector has gained another international partnership, with AXISCADES Technologies Limited and French small-satellite manufacturer U-Space signing a commercial cooperation agreement to explore India’s growing microsatellite market.
The agreement was signed during Bengaluru Space Expo 2026, held from September 7–9, and was publicly highlighted by AXISCADES on September 10.
The partnership brings together U-Space’s satellite-bus technology and small-satellite expertise with AXISCADES’ Indian engineering and manufacturing capabilities, with the companies aiming to address both commercial and institutional demand for microsatellites in India.
A Make in India Path for Microsatellites
The cooperation is intended to follow a progressive localisation approach, combining French space technology with Indian industrial integration and manufacturing.
AXISCADES said the partnership could help strengthen India’s domestic satellite-manufacturing capacity under Make in India, while positioning the country more strongly within the global small-satellite supply chain. Contemporary reports on the agreement describe a phased roadmap for bringing U-Space technology together with Indian manufacturing capabilities.
The agreement was signed by Dr Sampath Ravi Narayanan of AXISCADES and Thomas Pfister of U-Space, in the presence of Marc Lamy, Consul of France, and Jean-Claude Souyris, Strategy Director at the French space agency CNES.
