India has extended support to China in combating the dreaded coronavirus outbreak, and called for objective and rational assessment of the epidemic that has killed 259 people and affected nearly 12,000 others.
“During the joint military exercise SAMPRITI-IX, a Command Post Exercise (CPX) and a Field Training Exercise (FTX) will be conducted. For both the CPX and FTX, a scenario where both nations are working together in a Counter-Terrorism environment will be simulated under the UN Charter,” it said.
In a first, an AN-32 twin-engine military aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Friday successfully took-off with a 10% blend of Indian bio-jet fuel in both engines from Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, near the border with China.
“Thermal Imaging Night Sights would enable troops to undertake long range accurate engagements in dark and all weather conditions thereby enhancing the night fighting capabilities,” the Defence Ministry was quoted in the report as saying.
As many as 366 Indian nationals are returning back from China amid the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the country and they will be kept at specially created quarantine centres for two weeks, as a precautionary measure.
