India’s plan to focus on two national-level programmes to build genomic data of the population and crops is expected to help the country in developing per- sonalised drugs, tackle disease and increase yield in crops, experts said.

Israel completed the supply of the Spike Long Range (LR) Anti Tank guided missiles (AGTM) to India within three months of the order, Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ India Head, Eli Hefets, said on Wednesday. Spike LR ATGM system is a man-portable 4th Generation system which can engage targets in both Fire & Forget and Fire, Observe and Update mode, thus enhancing the operational flexibility and crew survivability.
In his address at the inaugural ceremony of the DefExpo2020, in which representatives of 40 countries are participating, Modi said: “There are unlimited possibilities in defence manufacturing in India. There is talent and there is also technology, there is innovation and there is also infrastructure, there is favourable policy and there is also protection of foreign investment. Here is Demand, Democracy and also Decisiveness.”
The programme, scheduled from May 11 to 22, is aimed at imparting basic knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications to the younger generation with the intent of arousing their interest in emerging areas of space activities.

In a select briefing, his first since he took over as India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat said it was his goal to “develop the services as an armed force,” integrating capabilities, logistics and manpower within the new Military Commands. T

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) have developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to convert brain signals of speech impaired humans into language, the Institute has said. The researchers can potentially interpret nature’s signals such as the plant photosynthesis process or their response to external forces.
Singh explained that India cannot restrict its defence cooperation to a few countries. He thereafter announced the creation of 10 new defence wings so that 10 more defence attaches could be appointed. “This will further strengthen India’s defence diplomacy,” he said, addressing the third Defence Attaches conference here.
