Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Friday, had a telephonic discussion with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono on their commitment to take forward the initiatives of bilateral security cooperation under the framework of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
CSIR is leading the fight against Covid-19 using multi-pronged approach and multiple models of engagement. On one hand CSIR labs themselves are developing technologies and products and are working with industry and PSU partners for deployment. On the other hand, CSIR is also supporting new ideas and projects from other academic and industries through its flagship New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI) program.
The contract, worth around Rs25.77bn ($340m), includes the delivery of 30 six-car regional commuter trainsets and 10 three-car intracity mass transit along with rolling stock maintenance for a period of 15 years.
Ministry of Defence signed contract for Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure (MAFI) of 37 airfields for Indian Air Force(IAF), Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with M/s Tata Power SED (TPSED) at a cost of nearly Rs 1,200 crore here today. The proposal has been duly approved by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh.
The last five years under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has seen the widest acceptance of “brand Khadi” in India. While the production of Khadi, the most eco-friendly product of sustainable development, has more than doubled in the last five years, i.e. since 2015-16; the sale of khadi has gone up by nearly three times during the same period.
The Border Road Organisation (BRO) completed the 80 km stretch connecting Ghatiabgarh and Lipulekh on April 17. After the trials were successful, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh opened the road by video conferencing on Friday. The road ends at the 17,000 feet high Lipulekh pass. From there, Mount Kailash is located around 97 km north of the pass in Tibet. The Lipulekh pass, close to the Tri-junction of India-China-Nepal, is the lowest point in this section of the high Himalayas.
The ministers also reviewed ongoing projects and plans including the participation of Indian companies such as Indian Oil Corporation in Russias state-owned Rosneft’s Vostok oil project in the Russian Arctic, Novatek’s deal to supply of LNG to H-Energy, cooperation between Gail and Gazprom, joint projects with Gazpromneft, and supply of crude oil by Rosneft to Indian Oil.
“India remains engaged in extending humanitarian food and medical supplies to Afghanistan to deal with the situation created by coronavirus. It was emphasised that putting an end to terrorist safe havens and sanctuaries is necessary for enduring and sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan,” according to a statement issued by MEA.
Using the digital payment infrastructure, around 39 crore poor people received financial assistance of Rs 34,800 crore (US$ 4.94 billion) under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) as on 5th May, 2020, announced by Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman on 26th March, 2020 to protect them from the impact of the lockdown due to COVID 19.
Scientists from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, have fabricated an economical and energy-efficient wafer-scale photodetector (thin slice-based) using gold – silicon interface, for security applications.It could help detect weak scattered light as an indication of unwanted activity.
