India May be Apple’s Next Big Production Hub

Electronics and technology giant, Apple Inc, plans to move almost a fifth of its production capacity from China to India. According to reports, the company wants to reap the benefits of the Indian government’s new production-linked incentives (PLI) scheme to encourage local production in the country.

Government Plans to Check China FPI Flows

The department of economic affairs in the finance ministry is looking at options, including the possibility of mandating the “approval route” for Chinese foreign portfolio investment (FPI) as well. FPI investors typically acquire smaller shares and keep churning their investment. The government will initiate the steps in consultation with markets regulator Sebi.

India ‘Test-Beds’ Integrated Battle Groups for China, Pakistan Border-Army Chief

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Sunday (May 10, 2020) informed that his force plans to introduce the Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) along the borders with China and Pakistan for swift strikes in case of a war situation. Speaking to news agency PTI, the General stated that a “test-bedding” for the same had been completed but the rollout has been delayed for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement came to mark the 75th Victory Day today. In Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Russia on the 75the Victory day. The Russian Ministry of Defence will be setting up a section to commemorate the event and role of the Indians.
