Local to Global: Khadi Masks to Hit Foreign Markets

The widely popular Khadi face mask is set to go “global”. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) will now explore the possibility of exporting the Khadi cotton and silk face masks to foreign countries after the Ministry of Commerce and Industries lifted the ban on export of non-medical/ non-surgical masks of all types. A notification in this regard was issued on May 16, by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

Kangra Tea Could Lower Coronavirus Activity Better than HIV Drugs

The chemicals in Kangra tea could also be effective in boosting immunity as they can block coronavirus activity better than anti-HIV drugs, said Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director, Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), based in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Dr Kumar has revealed this fact during a webinar organized at IHBT on the occasion of the International Tea Day.

Maldives Defends India Against Charge of Islamphobia at OIC

Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN, Munir Akram, claimed at a recent online meeting of OIC states that India was actively promoting an Islamophobic agenda. Contradicting Pakistan, the Maldives said India is the world’s largest democracy and home to over 200 million Muslims and alleging Islamophobia would be factually incorrect and detrimental to religious harmony in South Asia.

India Among World’s Top 5 Honey Producers

The Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has said the Government is promoting Beekeeping as part of its aim to double farmers’ income. Addressing a webinar organised by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Shri Tomar said the Government has allocated Rs.500 crore towards Beekeeping under the Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan. He said India is among the world’s top five honey producers. Compared to 2005-06 honey production has risen by 242% and exports shot by 265%.
