India, Russia to Fast Track Ka-226T Chopper and AK203 Rifle Production

Ka-226 T helicopter project announced in 2014 is expected to replace Indian army’s light utility helicopters Cheetah and Chetek. The main aim of the project is on “Make in India” production of KA 22T helicopters with Indian companies expected to take large scale part in the project. Many of local Indian vendors are expected to become the suppliers as the Russian-Indian joint venture has signed MoUs with a number of companies.

Indian Navy Inducts Indigenously-Developed Torpedo Decoy System

Navy said in a statement that the induction not only stands testimony to the joint resolve of the Indian Navy and DRDO towards indigenous development of Defence technology but has also given a major fillip to the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and the country’s resolve to become ‘Atmanirbhar’ in niche technology.

Jamnagar Air Base to Get New Radar Centre

Jamnagar has base stations of all three wings of Defence: the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and Indian Navy. Geographically Jamnagar supports all branches of defence, as it has access to the sea for the Indian Navy and a large air base due to the city’s strategic location close to Pakistan. The Jamnagar air base is reportedly the largest base of the South Western Air Command.

Private Sector Participation in Space Activities Approved

Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved far reaching reforms in the Space sector aimed at boosting private sector participation in the entire range of space activities. The decision taken is in line with the long-term vision of the Prime Minister of transforming India and making the country self-reliant and technologically advanced.
