New Online Platform to Promote Reuse, Repair, Recycle e-Waste

IIT Madras researchers are working to develop the model which, they estimate, can potentially open doors to a $50 billion economy. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Chennai-based Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS) which is located at the IIT-Madras campus. The Centre researches sustainability challenges. It is funded by the Government of India’s Department for Science and Technology (DST), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

At 3.5 Billion Transactions in August, UPI Clocks 120% Surge in Volume

In August, UPI processed 3.55 billion transactions, which is a new milestone for the payment network since its inception. In terms of value, UPI transactions were Rs. 6.39 trillion (US$ 87.47 billion) in August, which is a new high. In August, UPI’s volume of transactions increased by 9.5% month over month (MoM), while the value of transactions increased by 5.4%.

India, UK Sign Up to New Climate Finance Initiative

The Indian and UK governments on Thursday agreed a new tie-up to finance inclusive, resilient and sustainable infrastructure in India by harnessing public and private capital to meet the country’s low-carbon goals.

Scientists Develop Low-Cost Biodegradable Wound Dressing Film

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have invented a biodegradable low-cost composite transparent wound dressing film. This material, based on the integration of a synthetic polymer, is non-toxic and will create a moist environment that would enable the body to heal on its own through the endogenous enzymes, according to recent research. Some of the findings have been published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules journal.

Medicinal Plants to be Cultivated on 75-Thousand-Hectares of Land in the Country

The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH has launched a national campaign to promote cultivation of medicinal plants in the country as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This will help in increasing the income of farmers and realize the dream of Green India. Under this campaign, cultivation of medicinal plants will be done on 75,000 hectares of land in the next one year across the country. The program has been started from Saharanpur in UP and Pune in Maharashtra. This program is second in the series of programs being organized by the Ministry of Ayush under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Medicines to Boost Immunity Against Novel Corona Virus

Continuing its series of activities under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Ministry of Ayush launched a campaign of distributing Ayush prophylactic medicines and written guidelines on diet and lifestyle today at New Delhi. The drive was jointly kick-started by Minister of Ayush and Port, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of State for Ayush and Woman and Child Development Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai.
