India and Japan intend to have a joint exercise involving fighter jets from the Air Self-Defense Force and the Indian Air Force next year, the officials said. It will be the fourth similar exercise for Japan after ones with the US, UK and Australia. Japanese Defense Minister Taro Kono said the commencement of the talks “signifies a higher level of importance in Japan-India defence ties in the Indo-Pacific region.”
Drishti Transmissometer, the indigenous cost-effective visibility measuring system, has been developed at the workshop of National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru. As the Drishti system is web-enabled, maintenance may be carried out from any location in the country. None of the Drishti systems, including the first one installed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, in 2011, has failed so far.

“The process for acquiring land for the rocket launching pad has begun. The land requirement will be about 2,300 acres. The project activity is expected to begin in six months time,” Tuticorin District Collector Sandeep Nanduri told .
Officials said the Army Chief, accompanied by a delegation, will hold talks with top brass of Japan Self Defence Force on further expanding defence and security ties in the wake of evolving regional security scenario. Gen Rawat will also meet Defence Minister Taro Kono during which key issues of mutual interests would be discussed, they said.
The objective of the Exercise is to build and promote positive relations between the armies of India and Sri Lanka through focus on subunit level training on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in urban and rural environment under the United Nations mandate. The joint training exercise also signifies the strength of Indo-Sri Lankan relations in the field of military cooperation and engagement, which is vital for refining the interoperability and operational preparedness.

It is expected to be New Year gift to the Indian Navy, if the indications available at the HSL, a Ministry of Defence enterprise, hold water. The project which was launched in 2014 directly under the supervision of the National Technical Research Organisation, the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security Advisor is being undertaken without a name due to secrecy attached to it.
The long-delayed project, which was to be completed by 2018, is now back on track, with senior officers saying that the 37,500-tonne aircraft carrier will initially operate MiG 29K fighters and could also feature indigenous combat aircraft.
